Sarah Palin's Speech

We asked what you thought about Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin's acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention.

Palin's speach was strong, thorough and to the point. Her demeanor and her stance represents very well the backbone of this country. She captures the essence of the feelilngs and attitudes of good, honest and down to earth realistice Americans. She's the best candidate for the job. She needs to be in the white house with the best candidate for the presidency, John McCain. This duo would be the catalist for real change and real reform in this country, unlike their competitors.  --  Jeff, El Cajon

Do we need a comedian, or do we need a professional vice president. Sarah Palin is clearly not the right choice and is McCain's last resort.  --  Justin, Chula Vista

Sarah Palin is white trailer trash.  --  Benji, Pacific Beach

Sarah Palin proved she is worthy of the Vice Presidential nomination. She made many important points without all the political rhetoric. She has made executive decisions, she is not afraid to take on difficult problems, and she understands we need a strong President who will not back down from any terrorist threat. Remember 9-ll and think about who you want to be in charge of this country, obvious answer McCain/Palin.  --  Tom, Coronado

Sarah Palin proved tonight that McCain made the correct choice for VP. It is obvious that the Democrats are now on the defensive and are going to do anything in their power to discredit her.  --  Brian, San Diego

Sarah Palin is more experienced and, yes, even more accomplished, than is the community organizer, Barack Obama. The other side says calls her "inexperienced". They wouldn't say that about Tim Pawlenty. Palin is just as experienced as Pawlenty. It's just sexism from the phony egalitarian and diversity crowd who sees their election victory slipping away.  --  Jerry, Lake Murray

It amuses me that the hard-core Democrats enjoy criticizing Palin as being too "inexperienced" to serve as our country's VP yet their Presential selection has less managerial experience than she does! What they don't realize is that they are looking at the first female President of the US in 2012.  --  Ron, Lemon Grove

I wish that Palin would have addressed issues...she made a lot of biting remarks and yet said nothing that would convince me to change my vote.  --  Ariane, Santee

I expected a more modest and issue driven speech from Palin. Especially from a candidate who has so much controversy/questions around her. It was not a success in my opinion.  --  Joshua, Solana Beach

As a longtime goodstanding democrat, I must say I was impressed with what a heard and saw tonight. Palin appears to be a stern yet compassionate person that seems to stop at nothing to make sure that the "People" get control of the "WE The People" values that this country was founded on. She can count on my vote this November.  --  Christ, Santee

I think Sarah Palin's speech written by professional speech writers, spoke about everything except her own experience relative to being President if she had to step up. She was like a cheerleader to McCain's position as high school football quarterback...scary.  -- Patricia, Hillcrest

Palin proved she did not have the skills to take over as President if something happened to McCain, our Country deserves more than a pit bull hockey mom who governs a state with a population smaller than many US cities.  --  Pam, La Jolla

What I heard was a repeat of the same speeches made by the Democrats speeches just tailored to fit the Republican speakers.  --  John, San Diego

First let me state that I consider myself independent. I look to both parties for guidance and what they each have to offer. I found Govenor Palin's comment of being a friend and advocate to parents of special needs children patronizing. As a mom of two boys with Autism she can not possibly know the battles we real "hockey moms" face daily for our children. Somehow I doubt that her son will ever be denied an aide or a proper program. Don't claim to be one of us until you have truly walked a day in our shoes!  --  Christine, Valley Center

I thought the VP nominee did a fine job covering her background, her outlook & strong support for John McCain. Hard to argue with her oldest going off to Iraq & her support for those with special needs children given her own situation. She is quite articulate, funny; & aggressive when necessary. --  Jan, Escondido

I believe she made a great speech and is certainly a refreshing sight next to McCain. But it will take more than a "republican Hillary" to get McCain into the presidency.  --  Nicole, Golden Hills
