SDG&E Lawsuits

We asked what you thought of SDG&E's proposed lawsuits against homeowners.

I think it's ridiculous for SDGE to try and sue the people who lost their homes. SDGE just doesn't want to admit fault. If that's how they treat people, it makes me not want to be customer! Just goes to show how society really has become "sue happy". Very sad! My heart goes out to all of the fire vicims! -- Tracee

SDGE is mad they are not getting money from the bailout, so they are thinking other ways to get some money in there pockets. -- Aldo

With regard to the suit against SDG&E, I can't help but feel this is another sad attempt to blame someone or in this case some company for unfortunate events and devastating events. How old are we that we are still playing the blame game? Why not sue ourselves for being so dependent on electricity? While we are at it, let's file suit against our employers for allowing us to purchase food which contributes to our own obesity. Wake up world. -- Frank

The facts are simple. The regulations for property owners regarding fire clearance are designed to help protect their homes under NORMAL fire conditions, not to help protect other properties or to help stop fires started by improperly designed or poorly installed power lines. The regulations for power lines and power companies are designed to help prevent fires under EXTREME conditions, like wind or other weather factors, as well as normal conditions. Simply put, even if every inch of land in California was up to par with clearance regulations, given the weather involved in our last few fire storms, the fires started by faulty power lines would still have created mass distruction. -- Travis

I think it is ridiculous that SDGE is going to sue these people. How are you going to sue someone that lost almost everything in the fires. To me that's wrong and immoral. They should be ashamed for bringing up the proposition. The people they are suing should be entitled to an apology for SDGE pathetic and immoral proposition. -- Oscar
