We asked what you thought about Carl DeMaio's study of city worker's pay.

high salaries for city personnel. not sure if everyone cares about the problem. when a fire truck, with 5 personnel and an ambulance, with 2 or three, respond to a call for a heart attack, with no fire, something smells. -- David

The councilman is right. I worked 10 years with city employees, espically fire and police and the do spend most of their time discussing how they can work the system and make overtime and more money. It is unreal. -- James

I think Mr Demaio is out of his mind! He doesnt seem to understand that, as described in your report, most of these people are making those 6 figure salaries only with extensive amounts of overtime. I think he should rerun his report not including the overtime or he needs to understand that if the city had been bette run over the past decade or so, it would be better staffed currently and these people wouldn't be required to work so much over time. In addition, I haven't seen Mr. Demaio offer any solutions to this problem. It seems like he's just grandstanding and trying to garner television to promote his own causes. He doesn't seem to be approaching this in a very constructive manner and that's disappointing to see in an elected official. -- Matt

Didn't the City Council just recently have the audacity to request to be paid as much as Superior Court Judges? Regarding the other city employees, public work should never pay as much as the same job in the private sector. -- Brian
