Budget Deal

We asked for your thoughts on the new state budget plan.

We need to RECALL the entire legislature of california. They don't care about the public. I am sick and tired of paying for their ignorance and stupidity. NO MORE TAXES -- Ken

it's so easy for law makers to say to increase taxes... They failed miserably in balancing the budget, out spending our state's budget - why aren't they getting a pay cut? If they all got 10 to 15% performance evaluation fail pay cut, how much more money can our state save? I would like to know... -- Cassie

If you cut spending by 15 billion, but then raised taxes by 13 Billion, then basically nothing happened. They cut spending but made taxpayers make up the difference. Good show! -- Vince

To me this is a relief and a sign of hope. Even though taxes will be raised and their will cuts in education and such. I Believe this is right mostly because my family relies on the cash aid given to us by California, because we are trying to adopt my niece and nephews and without the help we get that just won't be attainable. Also this is good news since this hopefully proves that California is back on track. -- Oscar

I think that the Governor just dismissed the stimulus that the President signed. What is the purpose of reducing the federal taxes when the state taxes will increase? We have to help everybody (the illegal immigrants, the poor, the ones that do not want to work) but who is helping us, the working class? Our homes went down in value so badly that we lost our equity; but does somebody care about that? Our jobs are not safe; we are struggling to pay our bills, real estate taxes and mortgages so we do not go in foreclosure and yet the state put more pressure on our shoulders. I think that this country is not the land of the opportunity and the land of the free anymore. It is the land of the slaves; slaves to taxes and people that manage the budgets poorly and then we have to pay for their mistakes. But yet, they do not care because they take home a very fat paycheck. I think that if we have to pay for all this mess then the state should publish a quarterly financial statement for us to see where and how the money are used. I do not want to pay for their fat pension’s plans and benefits anymore!!!!
And Oscar, I am very sorry for your situation, but I do not think that is fair for us to pay for your niece adoption. I wanted to adopt a child myself but I had no money and I do not expect the California residents to pay for it. I am trying to save money so someday I will be able to help my family in Eastern Europe and adopt a child of my own. So you see, everybody have their dreams but we have to fight for them and no wait for somebody to hand them to us on a silver plate.
