We asked about Mayor Sanders accepting his full salary and pension.
Nobody in this city works harder for this guy. All the folks belly aching about double dipping would be right there collecting both checks. Stop the hypocracy. -- Dale
Give Jerry Sanders a break. His first term he took nickels on the dollar. He is working harder than any other city official. He already earned his police retirement. He is now earning his mayoral salary. GET OFF HIS BACK! -- Kati
I Feel as though the Mayor should be paid for his services. Being the mayor is very time consuming not to mention the responsibility he assumes. I don't feel anyone should be expected to perform such a time consuming job without pay. I know I would never want to assume such a large task without any monetary reward. I'm sure no one else would have served even the first term without any pay. The Mayor is doing a good job managing this city and he should be rewarded for his services. He like many others served his time as sheriff, and taken on another job at the end of his term. It's apparent others want someone else to do things that they would not even consider doing. -- John
I do think that Mayor Jerry Sanders is a hypocrite! He should have disclosed the fact that he is receiving both retirements and he should have let the voters know that he had changed his mind after his first term. I'm sorry that I voted for him twice!! -- Christy
Mayor Sanders, As a general statement I think he should be able to draw both, because he earned thm both, but if he used it as a campaign item, then it just adds another thing on how how was put into office under suspicious circumstances., but that has been how lots of things go on in this fair city. -- James
I believe Mayor Sanders definitely deserves to receive his retirement as well as the pay for being the mayor of San Diego. The campaign of not receiving pay was for his first term and as dlong as it was not part of the campain for the second term, it had nothing to do with the re-election, therefore should not be held against him in any way. -- Shanikah
This is outrageous if he does because our city is running outta of money and California is trying to find reasons to get more money. Everything now is getting taxed. We can save hundreds of thousands a year if he doesn't get his sallery. -- Bob
