No Fireworks

We asked your opinion about the decision to cancel the New Year's fireworks on San Diego Bay.

I want to know why all the sudden this is an issue. They have been doing fireworks for years. Dont stop the firework shows!! -- Justin

I can't believe they are trying to take away our fireworks. It's a wonderful tradition that everyone enjoys. And talking about taking away fireworks from the 4th of July. What are these people thinking. We have always celebrated this way and it should not change. -- Danielle

I think the fireworks should go on. I am tired of these environmentalists having a bigger say than the majority of the people. We should put this to as vote. -- Mike

I can understand the need for protection of our seas and waterway's, but I think the timing is wrong. The law firm could have reminded those in charge of planing months ago to avoid the feeling that their ruining the fun. -- Richard

The fact that we have some of the largest war ships, plus thousands of boats, restaurants, etc. on, or next to, our bay, the small amount of pollutants that the fire works may or may not put in the water is not where the focus should be. The focus should be on the more definate day to day causes of pollutants. Let the fireworks proceed, its a once a year celebration we all need to enjoy, its positive and upbeat. -- Bruce

This needs to be put back on track, and scheduled as planned. What is going to be next no fireworks on the 4th of July. The amount of fireworks being used will not effect the environment. If you want to fix the environment we need to change the way cars are made, not blame fireworks! Multiple Firework shows are done mainly twice a year, For New Years Eve and the 4th of July. So if we cancel fireworks for new years guess in 2010 there will be no fireworks for the 4th. This is totally unexceptable, and needs to be scheduled as planned.  -- Christian
