Under the direction of Maestro Jon Robertson, this
season-opening concert features a father-son relationship (Leopold and Amadeus
Mozart) in a performance of their concerti for horns. Fascinating will be the use of the natural horn (with no
valves) for Leopold's work. These
wonderful concerti represent the very light and humorous side of the classical
period.
Guest soloist Willi Schwaiger, a French horn player
from the Mozarteum Orchestra in Salzburg, Austria will present this unique
performance. Also featured
on the program will be Beethoven's Symphony No. 8 in F Major, Op. 93 and Joseph
Haydn's Symphony No. 31 in D Major ("Horn Signal")
